DIY Rustic Christmas Lanterns

As you all may well know, we believe in the Christmas spirit being celebrated all year around at Hallmark. So I have come up with some beautiful Christmas to decor to light up your festive season. What I love most about these DIY Rustic Lanterns is that they don’t have to be JUST for Christmas. You can switch out elements to make them fashionable decor for every season in your home. More bang for your buck, and you know I love that! Here is how to get started.

You Will Need:

  • 2×2 Craft Blocks (4)
  • 6×6 plywood pieces (2)
  • 1×2 legs, Cut to 8, 10, and 12 inches (4)
  • Molding, ¾ by 1 in, cut at 6 ¼ *(8)
  • ¾ in craft blocks (4)
  • Acrylic Paint
  • White Paint
  • Rope (2 ft)
  • Flameless Candles
  • Wood Glue
  • Nail Gun
  • 1 Finial

How-To:

1. Measure 1in from the edge of your plywood

2. Glue 4 blocks into the center of your plywood

3. Using a nail-gun, nail your blocks into the plywood, for added reinforcement

4. Attach your legs using wood glue, gluing onto the corner of the plywood

5. Attach your second piece of plywood, as a base, to the other side of the legs

6. Nail your flat piece of plywood to your legs, for added reinforcement

7. Measure ½ inch in from on your base

8. Glue mini craft blocks into the corners of your base

9. Placing your molding horizontal, glue to the base and top using hot glue

10. Nail molding in, for added reinforcement

11. Glue finial and attach to center of top craft blocks

12. Paint with acrylic paint
