All American Apple Pie Recipe

Paige

Your July 4th celebrations would not be complete without ending the party with a traditional, all American dessert … yep … the Apple Pie!

There is nothing better than walking into a homeĀ and smelling an apple pie baking in the oven. It instantly reminds me of the holidays… Apple Pie is one of my favorite desserts to make when I have people coming over so enjoy!

Pie Crust

  • Your favorite ready made pie crust or pie crust home recipe!

How To:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F.
  2. Make pie crust as per packet instructions and place into pie dish. Keep aside pie crust for the top of your pie.
  3. Peel & cut your apples into inch by inch cubes for a chunky apple pie.
  4. In a large mixing bowl combine chopped apples and all filling ingredients, make sure to mix in well.
  5. Pour apple mixture into pie crust.
  6. In your mixing bowl now combine together your crumble ingredients by hand until you have created a coarse crumble mixture.
  7. Spread a layer of the crumble topping over your apple filling.
  8. With the remaining pie pastry cut into long strips roughly 1/2-1 inch wide. We made roughly 7 strips. This will be used for the stripes of your american flag design.
  9. Combine the scraps of the pastry together and roll out. Using a star cookie cutter, push out star shapes in your pie crust to create the corner of your american flag design.
  10. Lay in the top left corner of your apple pie the star pastry. Cut away as needed. Lay out your stripes across the top to complete your flag design.
  11. Bake in the oven for 50-60 minutes or until your pastry is golden brown and your apples are tender.
  12. Serve hot with your favorite vanilla ice-cream and enjoy!

XOXO,

Paige
