DIY Crystal Chandelier

Paige

If you want to buy a crystal chandelier, get out your wallet because you are going to spend a pretty penny! But you really don’t have to pay this kind of money for a little sprucing up of an old fixture you might have around the house. Why buy when you can DIY? I am going to show you a way to give your old light fixture some pizzazz without breaking the bank, and without touching the electrical system in your home!

You Will Need:

  • Existing ceiling light fixture
  • Garden flower hanging basket in the diameter of your ceiling fixture (I will be using one that is 12-inches in diameter)
  • Strand of beaded wire – white and silver in color
  • Acrylic crystal garland hanging bead curtain
  • 4 drywall picture hangers (30lb)
  • Spray paint – chrome silver
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Wire cutter

How-To:

  1. Take the garden hanging basket and remove the filler and excess chains.
  2. In a well-ventilated area, spray the basket chrome silver. Set aside to dry.
  3. Once dry, add your garland to the top and each part of the basket until the entire structure is covered. The garland is made out of wire so you can attach it all over the structure, and manipulate it to make it look perfect.
  4. Take your hanging bead curtains and attach them at various places where you would like them to hang down.
  5. Take your picture hangers and hang the basket on one side and attach it to your light fixture on the other side.
  6. Voila! Enjoy your gorgeous new chandelier!
